The successful DB2 System Programmer will be working in a team of 6 8 responsible for configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and performance tuning DB2 for ZorOS environments and the databases running within them. The role involves working in a large and highly complex DB2 zorOS SAP Core Banking environment which incorporates the latest and greatest technology.
Key Responsibilities
As a crucial member of the team, you will plan and lead database development and maintenance of complex databases including - Design database environments and databases.
- Design, develop, modify, test, releaseordeploy and maintain database objects.
- Design, develop, modify, test, releaseordeploy and maintain database security and audit solutions.
- Design, develop, modify, test, releaseordeploy and maintain database recovery solutions.
- Execute database and data recovery.
- Manage database performance, capacity and availability.
- DBMS SW implementation, upgrade, patching.
- Essentially, you will design database monitoring solutions and work closely with your peers and team leader to proactively anticipate, identify and resolve issues for a key finance client. You will utilise and enhance best practices to develop work plans, checklists and defined processes, whilst proactively supporting application teams. As an expert in the field, you will provide advice on complex application data issues, take ownership of critical database incidentsorproblems and provide timely and logical solutions. Your technical expertise will be utilised to ensure database support documentation is developedormaintained, provide timeorresource estimates for assigned task and mentor junior staff members.
Key Requirements - Extensive and substantial experience in a similar DB2 DBA role, preferably within an enterprise environment.
- MVS System knowledge.
- DB2 System performance tuning andamp recovery experience.
- Strong DB2 diagnostics and debugging skills.
- DB2 V9 experience.
- DB2 data sharing in a parallel sysplex environment.
This is a client facing role where you will be liaising with a key finance client and internal stakeholders. As such, you will communicate confidently and be able to work with minimal supervision in a team oriented environment. Although not a perquisite, detailed knowledge of IBM DB2 toolsets and previous DB2 experience in a RACF environment is advantageous. Furthermore, SAP Business Software Solutions experience on DB2 zorOS coupled with IBM certification and version migration is preferred.
